Default Support Question for Avid...

Ok, so I have talked our managment into purchasing a SC48, which will happen in the next 2 days (jumping up and down!). I need to put their fears to rest as far as what we do IF something happens with the console, ie. hard drive goes out, mix rack goes out, console stops working, etc.. I have explained that the stability of the Venue line of products is second to none. However, they want to know what protocol will be if something major goes wrong with the desk. Do we need to have some soft of special service plan? Do we contact a local repair shop in Dallas? What are our options. If my hard drive goes down and I have a gig the next day or that night even, what are my options?

Thanks guys, this will be a great deal of help if answered.

Chris

One of the things you could do is contact Live Sound support.

By email : [email protected]

or by phone : 24/7 hotline :

US : +1 650 731 61 11
EMEA : +44 1753 650 500

you will find this information as well on a lanyard included when you buy the system.

That said ... The hard drives are quite easy to replace and one of the things you can do is have a spare hard drive pre installed ready for replacement. To be honest, hard drives failures are EXTREMELY rare.

I would like to think - and being part of the Live Sound Support team I'm probably slightly biased - that we have a pretty support team in place world wide.

Enjoy your new system.

Chris

Thanks Chris, I saved that number.

Having a spare hard drive is something I have been told to do. Can you provide what type of hard drive I would need that will plug right into a SC48. Also, are there instructions or a tutorial somewhere that would step me through replacing the hard drive on the SC 48 and let me know how to install everything and what to install on it? Thanks so much for your help!!

Chris

I've owned an SC48 for almost 2 years now and it has been great. The one time I had an issue Avid Support guys were outstanding.

If it were me, I would remove the drive, slip it into an external case and clone it(Acronis True Image) to a spare drive with the same specs. Then install the new clone(to make certain its good) and set the original drive someplace safe but handy(I've seen flight cases with a slot for a spare drive).

Great idea. I don't see anywhere in the manual on where the drive is located? Any instructions anywhere for how to do this? Thanks.

Not entirely sure on the location of the hdd, but when you are facing the mix surface of the console, I believe it is on either the right of left sides. I want to say the right...under where the display connects...but that could be totally wrong.
