Everyone's workflow is different. I've had no issues tracking bands at 32/64 buffer with native. (32 ins at a time then overdubs). As you mention, HDX wouldn't affect anything except native plugins. My workflow incorporates a ton of native plugins... In fact, even running my TDM system, I found myself running more and more native plugins over the years to achieve what my clients wanted.

I still may find the need to switch. But the tests I've done with my current sessions, with the plugins I am using, HDX does not offer any appreciable value for me.
