Help with 'access violation' errors on an i7 please.

Hello,

First of all, I'm running PT8 cs3 with the complete production toolkit on an i7 computer and still trying to iron out a few things. Here's a link to my sandra report (http://duc.digidesign.com/showpost.p...postcount=1312) and I'll post my "pro tools version list" at the end of this post.

I've been getting various "access violation" error messages during tracking and playback. Doing a little research on here I found that the first place to look while fixing this is to look at your plugins. I looked through my list and the only problem areas I found are potentially with a couple freebies (i.e. sonalksis, orca, studio devil, etc.), guitar rig (I run the first version and have never upgraded to guitar rig 2 or 3), and the air effects (ie air fuzz-wah, air reverb, etc.).

I could definitely use some fresh eyes to look at this list and some fresh ideas to help me get stable on this thing.

personally i would pull out ALL the plugins in the folder. then trash databases,prefs, app data, restart the machine and try it.

if all is well i would put a few in at a time, starting w the digidesign stock plugs and try it.

will take some time but should be able to find it.

actually i looked at your list a bit more....

PULL OUT THE MASSEY VT3, TAPEHEAD, AND CT4!!!!!!!!

just pull those and give it a try and post back after you try it. these have caused me problems before which SUCKS cause i love ct4 and tapehead!!!!

td5, l2007, and thc are fine for me.

Aw man. Not the masseys.

Have you or anyone else brought that to his attention?

I just pulled all the other freebies I'd put in, I don't even really like them anyway, I just wanted to see what they were like. So far so good, but it usually takes a while before it happens. I'll pull the ones you mentioned above too and see if I can make it through a session tomorrow unscathed.
