Default SeekCut - video cut detection to markers

Mark Jensen made a little app to do something that I've been wishing Pro Tools could do:

http://postproductiontools.com

It chews on a video and gives you a standard MIDI file with markers of all the cuts detected in the video. Accuracy is pretty high. Very useful. I'm using this on my current TV show. Thanks Mark!

Default Re: SeekCut - video cut detection to markers

Cool! Thanks for the heads up.

I just tried it on a Feature. It worked pretty well for the most part. It got confused with some camera whip pans -- made markers for some spots within the panning -- but those were easily deleted. And a couple of scenes the boundary of the cut and the marker were off by a frame. But many were dead on.

I'm doing a lot of music editing this season, and even though I'm getting maybe 90% accuracy with the markers, that's plenty good enough for me to quickly look up at the Edit window and slide a cue to the cut.

Long ago, I was doing this with video AAFs unlinked from media. I would get a dummy video track with the cuts in it. But I haven't been able to achieve the same thing with other video NLEs.
