What kind of alarm are you using? Does it alert the alarm company first and then leave it up to them to contact the police? Or does it just alert you?

Best,

mightyduck
Yeah here in Stockholm where I live i a pretty sweet part by the water we have no problems with popo.

In sweden the alarm system we use are direct to police And fire. The companies who provide the alarm services where you go thru them first is nothing I would trust our studios with after investing way way too much. It is not a commercial studio although we have more gear than the large facilities so paying the insurance and having the right system isn’t more than €177 a month which is coffee money really.

So sorry I cant help you better as we are on oppposite sides of the ocean and we dont have the issues that US have with crime or with police.

Yes, motion activated flood lights and a security light dusk to dawn. Yes, sometimes a deer and even a coyote or stray dog can trip the light, but better that than not coming on at all. Cameras too on the door and control room.

Here, I have to buy a yearly permit for an alarm. $50. They say that it helps to defray the cost of the sheriff's department responding to false alarms.

My system rings the sheriff AND the alarm company. If the alarm company does not cancel the call to the sheriff within 2 minutes they are dispatched. The alarm company calls me to verify or not then if false, sends that to the sheriff.

Yup, State Farm here too. No, not the cheapest, but for me, the best solution.

You didn't take quantity into account. Nordic countries are the biggest coffee consumers in the world. So if you take 177/30 it is 6 euros a day, clearly coffee money.

Considering an espresso is about $3.50 over here and one of those hideous milked up concoctions would be $5, I stand by my expensive comment.

In Finland, regular coffee 3eur, espresso 3.5eur, cappuccino 4eur -- and those are nothing special. But yea, I hear ya, anything over 2 is extortion.

The alarm is monitored by a company 24/7. If someone breaks in, you get a call. Without a response from you or someone with the proper password, the police are called. For insurance, go to an independent agent and ask about a Business Owner Policy. IIRC, I was paying just under $800/year for liability($2 million) and coverage for equipment for $60K. If you derive your income from the studio, you may also be able to get coverage for lost income(my building had a major plumbing disaster and I was able to recoup for lost work over a 2 week period). Keep in mind that I operated out of rented space in a commercial building in downtown Nashville.

With real espresso. Shopping the other day and saw decaf espresso in the coffee aisle at the food store. I mean - why bother?

Used to run a coffee/snack club at one job and every once in a while i'd have a pot dedicated to espresso. Also had a pot with regular coffee. A lot of people mixed the two because they couldn't take full-strength espresso. This was when I worked as an aerospace engineer. Talk about space cadets
