I also wouldn't assume a 1990 SSL computer still works and good luck finding Bernoulli disks.

Are there any life expectations for the C 24?

Pure guesses, b/c it's still listed as current in AVID's line up....

But it's not eucon so it will always be a red headed step child in AVID's lineup

I think I have one in the garage. Probably has some Star Search mixes on it circa 1989.

Nothing like the sound of a Bernoulli self-destructing when the A2 moves the engage knob too quickly.

Well, funnily enough those SSL computers still work and I haven't seen anyone using a Bernoulli drive with them for at least 15 years.

The whole point about control surfaces is that they are not computers which is why there is no reason not to carry on supporting them. Their hardware is not obsolete and neither is their functionality. Even the ancient ProControl covers the entire core functionality of Pro Tools.

The reason why support for these surfaces is being dropped is a commercial one (or perhaps somebody decided that 15 odd years is enough).

Seeing how long the ProControl has been supported (and later "tolerated) is pretty remarkable by today's standards of course so anyone who hasn't made a return on their investment should not be in this business.

Never met anyone who bought an ICON just for fun. Its a tool and tools get written off after they done their job.

Everyone with an ICON including our studio knew it wouldn't work for ever,
It's a write off alright, a write off of Avid to its customers! You could not of said that better!

The only reason something should become irrelevant, is if the users find no value in it anymore. Not a company intentionally making irrelevant so they can extort you for more money! I can't believe all you people were defending this. Are you really that naïve!

For the record, I use a pro control every day, for hours each day, and I find it as relevant today, and is beneficial today, as I did the day I bought it. And I would love to have spent more money, but let's just say, give more money to AVI D had they not intentionally screwed me as a customer!
