Mbox Pro hissing, crackling, master volume issues

As I connected my Mbox 3 pro to Yamaha MSP 5 monitors, there was a lot of hissing and crackling noises. This is coming from all monitor outputs (1-6). So far I have used headphones and no issues noticed when using headphones.

This hiss and crackle are there even if PT is not running.

Another thing I noticed is that the master volume is not responding real time. It take about 5-6 seconds to change the volume levels after you mote the nob!

I used both PT and Ableton and found the hiss & noise issues is there. As I browsed through the forum, I see that many people have experienced this. I believe this is a hardware fault. But before I go back to the vendor, I would appreciate if any one can give some tips.

uninstall and reinstall the drivers, also make sure all the optomizations are done. At the same time could you post a sandra report please?

I got SIIG firewire card bought from ebay. All my above mentioned issues solved after installing it.

I took sometime to post a reply with updates. I guess I was too quick in saying 'all' the problems solved. I still have one really annoying issue. Hissing, crackling, white noise from all 1-6 line output, though it came down little bit when I changed my firewire card. From the headphone out this is not heard.

This problem is not yet solved and I see many more people having same issue. If I or my clients are not able to hear clean sound from the monitors, this box is of no much value!

Could this be a ground issue? I had/have a similar issue with my ProFire 2626, I ended up chassis grounding it to another piece of rack gear that had a 3 prong power cable to ground it.

Thanks Joel, I will try that. I thought a ground issue will give a constant hum not crackling and white noises.

I forgot to mention one more thing. I could here some small swish sounds when I am loading pro tools. Also some sort of sound when the mouse is moved.

I've had the mouse noises myself before. Do you have a wired or wireless mouse? This is likely EMI. If you're using a wired mouse, be sure the wire doesn't come near your speakerr wires.
