Fw-X not talking to LE...

Hey Guys,

Im not sure ive introduced myself here - My name is Chris Johnson (duh!) and im Head Of Sound for Hillsong Church here in the UK. We've been using the Venue platform for FOH at London's Dominion Theatre for a while now, and are loving it

We have a Profile Surface, with a Mix Rack. We have the Fw-X recording option installed.

We had our Xmas Special this sunday which went well, however our desk was unable to communicate with our LE system for multitracking. It would give us an error 'Unable to Communicate with your Digidesign Hardware'. No idea what the problem was, we only got them correctly talking once, after that, no Joy. The one time we did get a connection, it crashed with the same error about an hour later.

Any ideas? i tried rebooting the Mac, changing cables and restarted protools.

Hi Chris,

Welcome, and thanks for contributing.

We'll need more info about your LE setup in order to make an assessment. Please provide the Mac model, OS, specs (RAM, HD), etc. A good place to start is to check the Pro Tools LE support pages to make sure your setup meets the minimum requirements.

Also, if an external FW drive with multiple FW ports is being used the connection should be Mix Rack > FW drive > Mac.

Hey Sheldon

Using 7.4 on a Gen 1 Macbook (2.2Ghz, 2Gb Ram, 10.5.5). Machine works with a 003 no worries. No extra drives were in use for the test and no other applications were running.
