Hi Randy,

Just thought I'd stop by to see if you'd discovered the utopian bliss of Pro Tools' patch/bank selection yet?

Phil,

Thanks so much for the persistance!
I am actually having some problems with this process. I did launch the OMS names stand alone program (available on the protools LE 5.1 install disk, but not featured as a menu item in LE?) I subscribed to the proteus 2000 patch names as you said, but its still not recognizing names in protools. Is there something I am forgetting to do?

Thanks again

Randy

accession ,

if you are still out there jump right back in,
don't let me push you a side !

I need to find a better way to explain all this.

Do you know about doc and the visionsj site ?
http://visionsj.com/oms/names.html
try the hints and help.
It's all background info and will help in some way I'm sure.

As far as the 'P' is concerned. The PT mixer has midi channel strips and you will find a P or Patch on those strips.
I have a Names list for the QT intruments that has just a little more description than the basic GM list in OMS.
You can chose your Proteus as your primary Midi unit instead of the QT stuff.

There are small traps that you can fall into when using the old clunker OMS and OMS Names. Especially if there are multiple vbersions and folders etc as you have updated or shuffled folders.

But Try this,
Open PT and have your session running .... not playing but just open. The 'P', for patch is not the way you want it.
Open OMS studio setup and make it current. If the option is gey'd out then it probably is current.

Now open OMS Names direct and not from PT pull down and do the subscribe thing again. While in Names double click on the 'proteus 2000' and you should see the default patch names. Don't bump of change anything and back out of that screen.

Now jump back to PT (OMS and OMS Names still open) and the 'P' should now be more than just the 1 to 128 sort of thing.

Just a side question , How many synths are listed on your OMS studio set-up page ?

Kev,

I'm not sure what you mean by the "p" for patches in protools. Proteus 2000 is subscribed in OMS names and at some of the factory names are listed when i click on the icon. To answer your question. The only "synth" module I have is the proteus. I am running an old yamaha keyboard as a controller, it automatically places "quicktime music" "IAC Drive" and "Studio Patches pgm chg" listed in my studio setup.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated

Randy

Ah, another happy customer!

(Kev, what do you reckon? Should we push to have our next paid PT upgrades for free?)

Have a great weekend.

Phil
