Default Mac graphics card upgrade?
Love my 2008 Harpertown Mac but would like to get a better graphics card for it. I have a dual boot drive running Lion and Maverick. What is the best card I could get for an upgrade that would work with my current Mac

Hi have a Radeon HD 7950 in one of my cheese grater Mac pro's, & it runs Mountain Lion (for PT10HD) & High Sierra very well. It should in theory be compatible with Mojave, but I've not tried yet. a.f.i.k these cards need mountain lion or higher without having to mess around with driver installers.

Ah yes, I see you are using a MP 3,1. It might be worth just getting a used 4.1 or 5.1, as they can be had very cheaply now & a 5.1 will upgrade right up to Mojave but still run an older OS for HD-TDM

After a bit of research I ordered this earlier this week for my 2008 8-core Mac Pro 3.1:

EVGA GTX680

Seller is 100% and I imagine it's a flashed PC model, but it's still for Mac. Hope this helps!
