Default Pro Tools 12.5 Stability

Hello dear friends,

I managed to get a project working in Pro Tools 12.5 but this was possible when raising the playback engine to 512 samples ... (My settings in logic x are 32 samples) and 64 back in pro tools 12.2

Comments ?

Project (in the cloud) or session (local) in this case? I haven't found that local sessions (the old style) would perform badly, in fact, on the opposite...

Still learning the cloud project workflow, hammering a test session and found out that the project cache can corrupt and make the PT software quit unexpectedly. After some troubleshooting I found out that after I delete the project cache file and re-open the project, the problems are gone. (of course, you would initially get an empty project because of the cache deletion, but it downloads the tracks pretty fast).

Janne, were you a Beta tester for this ?? if not, you should have been as it seems you found this issue very quickly .. which means someone at the Home Office missed this one big time .. let's get you in there for the next release .. if you are already than just disregard this ...

cheers john

No. I beta tested v7 - v10 but had to leave the team because at that time I didn't have a hardware upgrade planned. No room for testers with TDM hardware when the team is at 11 and above. I now have HDN but don't belong to the beta team, thanks for asking.

Overall this has been the most pleasant and pain free Pro Tools update in recent memory for me. I didn't do anything I was supposed to do, installed on top of 12.4 without uninstalling, etc. and everything is working like a champ. 12.4 had a tendency to hang without explanation and with no rhyme or reason to them. Completely random as far as I could tell, and no amount of troubleshooting would resolve it, and nothing in the logs for PT or Windows gave me any info. Learned to live with it. Installed 12.5 on release day, been using daily mixing and mastering a record, and not a single hang. Glorious.

Hope everyone's experience is that easy.
