Default Help! \"Session must be on an audio record volume\"?

Why do you do this to me DIGI! I just upgraded my studio with a G5 PowerMac desktop and still error messages greet me upon installation. Dammit! It shouldn't be this frustrating. I've had several problems in the past and now they continue. When i enter ProTools and try to create a new session i get an error message - "Session must be on an audio record volume". Can anyone please reccomend a solution to this problem? I am running a DIGI 002 w/ ProTools 6.9.2. Thanks in advance for your help.

First off, welcome to the forum.

This topic has been discussed in great detail, so use the search.

Anyways, it's a really dumb and obnoxious problem. In ProTools, go to the "Windows" menu and open up the "Workspace". The columns next to the name of the hard drive (labeled A and V) should read "R", for Record. If they don't, and they read "T" for Transfer, then simply click on it and select "Record".

Sometimes it resets itself and you have to do this again, but it's an easy fix.

Dude,

I empathize with you, I just spent yesterday fixing the same problem.

1.first try what the ensomnic dj said.

If that doesnt work.

2.Make sure you have the 6.9.2 updater from the protools website downloads, this download does not come on the 6.9 update disk.

3. Make sure you have stuffit expander in your accessories, my new Imac G5 didn't so I downloaded that too for free off the web.

4.After downloading updater 6.9.2 open it up with stuffit exp.

5. make sure the updater extension name is dmg. instead of bin. you can change it, by simply retyping in the extension.
6. restart you computer

Then try going back to windows display and see if you can change T's to R's

Goodluck,
mgvince

Let me know if it works

Thanks for the love. I got it worked out - I guess it was an easy fix. But i still wouldn't have figured it out if it wasn't for your knowledge. Much appreciated.

Also, good to be part of the forum. Hopefully i can contribute in the future.

Yeah, i had this same problem when i got into the LE side of things (started in PT FREE on som old Performa 6400).

For about the first week i had my G4 and Mbox, i couldn't use it, until i fixed that stupid little problem.

It's annoying, but easy to fix.
