Default Upgrading Mac 10.8.5 (w/PT 12.4) to Sierra (w/PT 12.7)

Currently I'm on: Mac 10.8.5 and PT 12.4 (on a Macbook Pro, early 2011)

I have this on my ilok: Pro Tools Perpetual Bundle (with 10/11/12)

In my Avid account I see I can download PT 12.7 (I don't see anything higher than that, and I'm not sure why?)

Question: I need to upgrade my Mac OS. Certain things like Dropbox are going to stop using 10.8.5 soon. (I've been holding on to 10.8.5 in case I want to run PT 10 on this laptop).

Right now, PT 12.7 is qualified for Sierra, but not High Sierra. I'll wait another month or so, to see if PT12.7 gets qualified for High Sierra.

But...is this generally how it goes: I'll first upgrade to OS to either 10.12 or 10.13, and then download PT 12.7?

Anything I should know? Does this generally go smoothly?

And why wouldn't I see 12.8 on the list of downloads in my Avid account? Is is because I don't have a yearly "upgrade" plan / my plan expired before 12.8 was released? I'm guessing that's the case.

THANKS!!!

Yes you need an active annual plan to get the updates and anything over 12.4.

It is a $299 reinstatement cost but then you will be good for a year.

Thanks, Chris.
But...PT 12.7 is in my account, and when I click on the 12.7 link (in my account), a Download Dialogue box opens. Doesn't that mean I can download it, or is that not the case?

This is listed in my account:

Pro Tools 12.7.0

Pro Tools 12.7.0 installer Mac (DMG) 1.34 GB Pro Tools 12.7.0 installer Win (ZIP) 1.69 GB

12.6.1 is in there as well...

You need to look at your ilok license as the last version that was out when your plan lapsed is the last version the ilok license will authorize. You can try downloading but i think it will say license is missing for that version.
