That's kind of what I'm getting at - it sounds like there's different paths to creating busses and they don't all work the same although they should. It shouldn't matter how one calls up the routine to do the deed if the coding is properly done (or don't they do modular coding anymore?).

Mostly ok except for Quad. Default path order for 5.1 set to Film in Output page drop down menu. No change when default path order is set to SMPTE. Sub-paths are all correct when creating new path+sub-paths in I/O Setup window.

Same issue with 7.1. Quad incorrect when using Send->New Track method, all sub-paths correct when creating inside of I/O Setup window.
Its really odd that yours are closer to being correct on my system even on PT2019.06 here everything is still a mess. See attached SubpathMess_PT2019.06_OS10_12_06.jpg

And we're on the same OS10.12.6 -Avid HD Omni as the interface

Yeah, at first I thought that maybe they "mostly" fixed it in 2019.6, but I tested this in 2019.5 on the same computer (both are installed), and the results were the same.

I think I was using Built-in Output on my MacBook, just to test this. I know on my Omni at home, I have to do some pretty weird routing/assignments to be able to use 1-2 & 3-4 as H/W Inserts and use 7-8 as my monitor path. I wouldn't think this would affect sub-paths on the bus page, but I guess weirder things have happened.
Cheers!

This issue remains in PT 2020.05

Create a new path [example 5.1 bus] in the I/O page and select auto create sub paths -Check sub paths you will see all is correct there is no problem working this way.

Create a new path [example 5.1 bus] from the edit window selecting 'new track' as an output and then 5.1 -now look at sub paths in I/O window -you will see a big problem in the 5.0 version (of the new 5.1 bus) the Center is now routed to the Right of 5.0 -any paths created this way need to be sorted out in the I/O page before you can use them properly.
Case Number 03955859

PT-240436 Output paths created with "New Track" option have mis-routed sub-paths (7.0.2, 5.1, 5.0, Quad, Overhead)

Bug number above.
