cpu 100% - maybe driver issue

Every time I start an application accesses my mbox, my cpu usage hits 100%. This is usage as reported by perfmon and task manager. According to the usage indicators in pro tools, ableton live, and reaktor, they are using practically no cpu at all (nothing loaded, only the application has been started). This usage continues until I close down the program.

Every program that uses the mbox appears to do this.

My guess is that there may be something wrong with the driver. Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
