Default Noisy 192 IO (s)

Hello,

We have two 192 IOs in our control room and they are very loud.
At first they are quiet and then once they get warmed up (about an hr of use) they kick into overdrive and are very audible when mixing.

Is there anything we can do aside from re-locate them to the machine room?

Does AVID make any replacement fans? maybe ours have gotten warped over time and are in need of replacement?

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

-EP

a) try blowing the dust off of the fans and out the 192

b) when cleaning look to see what the fan specs are then go look for quieter replacements

Are there empty spaces between them in the rack? I always try to use vented rack blanks between hot pieces of gear like preamps and convertors.

The air flows from right to left. Since I drilled multiple venting holes on both sides of my closed-side SKB rack, the 192 hasn't gone into overdrive once. And my 8-unit racks has no empty spaces.

If fans are running full out the 192 is TOO HOT and you should vent it better as
has been said above. Otherwise you are shortening it's life.

Thanks for the replies.

We have the 192's in an Argosy Mirage Desk.
There are no free spaces to space it out and it doesn't really have space on the sides. I guess thats just how Argosy designed it.

Any ideas on how to get it to cool down or ventilate it better when its installed in this desk?

Hi,
at gearslutz someone told about better fans for the 192 I/O:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/NewPro...D=skim690X1299

I didn't try it so far but maybe it helps.

Hi,
Do these also work to replace the 96 i/o fans?
Thanks

I don't know. But I guess it will not because the 96 I/O is a completely different beast.
