Default Video issues with 12.4

I am trying to work on a scoring project and I have a video I have converted from mp4 to mov and imported into a new session, but it will not play in the video window in PT 12.4. The playhead moves but the image remains still throughout. Any ideas on how to make it play?

PT has never played well with h264 codecs. You would be better off converting the mp4 to DNxHD36. This is a native codec in PT and has none of the inaccurate running that often occurs with h264. MPEG Streamclip can be downloaded for free. Though an old programme it works well. The files are much larger though.

I did down load that program as I saw a reply to a similar situation, but I do not see the option to convert to that codec within StreamClip.

I am brand new to video within PT so forgive the newby queries- when I relaunched PT I got these messages: 'Unable to create index for editor slide files. To create the index launch the editor once from an account with administrator privileges.' and 'Media will be unavailable in the media directory:....'

I transcoded the movie in MPEG Streamclip to DNxHD36 - no change. I downsized the movie from 2.8 gb to 118 mb in iMovie- no change. The other members of my team are all running PT 12 using the same movie that I created in iMovie with no issues, and it plays perfectly with no issues in Logic (of course). It simply will not play as a movie- it just stays locked on the 1st image and will go to other spots in the movie- it just won't play as a movie and I can find no references anywhere to the error messages I now receive when I start PT even with no project selected

I was poking around on the Avid site and found the 12.5.2 update which I didn't know existed- installed that and all good!
