Default Pro Tools 2018.1 crashing during audio import/export

Hello all,

I've recently upgraded to Pro Tools 18.1 on a fresh install of MacOS Sierra (10.12.6). All seems to be fine outside of an issue with importing tracks/audio and using "Save Session Copy In". During both actions I've been getting tons of crashes. I've been archiving sessions the last few days and get a crash roughly 25% of the time when importing and exporting audio.

I've tried a fresh install multiple times and I keep having the same issue. I've been using PT for 12 years and this is definitely a new one for me. Anyone out there having similar issues?

please provide more system info for your MAC ..

and since this only happens 25% of the time, there must be something that is common to those sessions ..

I'm running it on a 15" 2012 Macbook Pro.

Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

The system drive is a 525 GB SSD (150 GB being used) and I'm running my sessions off of a 500 GB (275 GB being used) external USB 3.0 Lacie Rugged drive.

I'm running a completely fresh install of MacOS Sierra 10.12.6.

My interface is a Steinnberg UR242.

I have that same laptop and I’m not seeing anything weird happening

However I am running 10.11....

What’s 10.13 look like, I’m thinking of upgrading to it....

I am using 10.12.6 as well, with a very similar macbook pro, just the next revision after yours,

and so far i haven't been able to duplicate the issue importing audio with PT 2018.

I mostly use command shift I to import audio unless i need to preview it in tempo (then i use workspace browser) and i always copy or convert the files (if not at project sample rate) to the project folder..
So far since the day 2018 came out, i haven't had a crash doing this particular function.

I know this is going to sound stupid as it's a fresh install, but did you do the delete preferences thing just in case?
it's still entirely possible that a preference file got corrupted somehow.

Those Lacie drives appear to be only 5400rpm, which may be causing the problem.
