Default remote computer location

Does anyone out there use the 001 system with remotely housed computers? I have a separate computer room opposite a control room wall. The cable run is 20', more than short enough for +4 line level signals and digital audio. However, the 001 interface cable is about 4' long, and I cannot find a longer one or an extension. (Digidesign has been no help either) Any solutions?

why would you need the 001 box near you, just move the mac and 001 into the machine room and run all necessary tie lines to a patch bay in the control room. Any place with a machine room surely isn't using the 001's pres? sounds like you'd have a mixer?

Saggsy, an interface cable should be less expensive than a 16 pr audio snake. If I remote the interface as well, I then need add't patch bay points for the i/o whereas if I have the unit in the control room, I can patch directly to it. (I have made custom rack ears to rackmount the unit backwards where all the connectors are save inputs 1/2.)

where02190,
Read about a guy who found a company to make him a longer cable cheap on this forum about a year ago. Try doing a search on extension cable or something like that. Wish I could remember more about it. But there is a solution on the DUC somewhere. Ofcourse, digi said don't use it, but the guy said it worked great. My G4 is just on the other side of the wall from my control/recording room and the supplied cable just makes it! I do have to reach for the 001 box though as it is by the wall and not near me and the monitors.

Good luck,
Most Humble,
Dave
