Default Recalling fader layouts on MC Mix only?

Hello folks,

I'm thinking about getting an Artist device, I'm leaning towards the MC Mix rather than the Control, but I'm unsure if I will be able to recall fader layouts easily on the MC Mix.
I've seen the Control has the layouts available for selection on screen - how about the MC Mix? Any way of banking through layouts or having them appear on the OLED for selection?

Any other pros or cons I might not yet know of for going Mix rather than Control as first unit or vice versa?

Thanks for your help!!
Andrew

You can of course bank through your tracks with the bank/nudge buttons, but you can not recall layouts with the MC Mix. There are other ways of creating layouts though depending on what DAW you're using, ie. in PT you can create show/hide memory locations that you can recall using the numeric pad on your keyboard.

Thank you for your help!!

So that means there is no way of using this feature? Or will it work by recalling a layout in the Eucon application?

No worries. Ya you can always recall the layouts from Eucontrol, just means that you have to switch out of protools, select the layout and then switch back. Not very elegant but doable.

Thanks, that would be an option.

Do you think there are any chances of Avid development team adding it to a driver/software update for Eucon and enabling a selection via the push encoders and OLED display strip? How are they for feature requests with the artist devices?

Truthfully, I doubt they will incorporate that with the mix. It's already pretty packed with functions plus you can use the show/hide memory locations which I actually prefer anyhow. As for how they are with feature requests, it's been ok. Theyve certainly addressed some functional things like the faders. I think with PT10 we'll find out how responsive they are as I'm pretty sure eucon will get an update too and there have been a lot Of things asked for.

I don't think they will bother doing that considering they have 2 other product that does this rather well.

Have you considered getting a transport? It works great along with the Mix.

Not yet. I actually am pretty happy - so far - with transport via keyboard.
My main thing is wanting the tactile speed of faders for pre-mixing.
As I am not only working in ProTools land I love the thought of Eucon, so the locator setups in PT are good but not compatible with say Nuendo.

Still, it looks like it will be the mix. Then again... I guess selecting multiple tracks on the control is quick via the touch screen? Aaah, decisions... :)

Don't forget though that Nuendo has a similar feature for creating layouts, I believe they call them viewsets in the mixer window. It's not like you can keep the eucon layouts from a pt session and bring them into nuendo anyways.

This was a very smart suggestion. Try it before you wave it off...
