catalina 10.15.5 issues

No problem.

Still don't underestimate the effect of dust inside the box. Doesn't hurt to open it and clean it the best of your abilities without using any liquids.

definitly a problem with 96K session, several attemps, kind of routing bug (if i route an audio track to one of my analog output, go to analog hardware and come back in the AES enc input of the HD i/o, then to an aux track and finally to an audio track to print something (which is the kind of setup i use in my studio), signal is passing, i can hear it but nothing moves and the final audio track meter and if i record on that track nothing is recorded....)


so i did a restart and it's the same, protools doesnt launch at all again....even with N pressed.....

Good news is you have a clean Catalina iinstall now.

Bad news is if PT won't start with 'N' pressed there must be something wrong with tht PT install. That must always work. Once you get PT started next time, hit default on every I/O setup page and rebuild your routing.

impossible to launch protools.....at this point, it could be a good idea for me to try to downgrade to catalina 10.15.3 as it seems to be the last version that worked fine with protools 2020.5 ?

I wouldn't do that as you just took great effort to install clean 10.5.5 but instead try installing 2020.5 or 2020.3 again, and/or wait for next version that can be expected soon.

I doubt it. Are you trying all this with HDX or just native? If HDX can you remove that hardware and does Pro Tools start?

Hi Daryl, as i need to keep working on a mix, i just replugged my HDX card into my old macpro 2009. Every attemps i did with my laptop were done with that same hdX card plugged into a sonnet breakaway box. So as my laptop is now free, i justv tried to launch protools and it launches without any problems....does it tell you something ?

Logically one would think there is a problem with the expansion chassis compatibility. Which exact model is it?

sonnet breakaway box 550 which is supposed to be comptible with HDX card, dixit sonnet tech guys....

Then there is compatibility with Catalina, are you sure it is supported already?
