Default How good is the Fab Filter Pro R reverb?

Hey friends

Most of you know by now we use 90% hardware and have a pretty sweet setup with Bricasti and 6000 reverbs etc but I want to find a proper reverb to use when I am at the house and doing some production ideas. Our large HW reverbs ain’t the easiest to remove for just a days work outside the studio and then put them back so sortware it is ... *sad face*

Looks like FF R is around $200 here in sweden. Maybe there are better ones for that price.

So I am not on a budget run and just wanna know what ya’ll use and please look at the ones we have so we dont buy something we dont need Not loving collecting plugins to just sit there.

Slate Bundle
UAD-2 EMT-140
UAD-2 EMT-250
UAD-224

And some waves crap from our old Gold Bundle.

We probably have some other reverbs and of course AVID Space and their other reverbs but honestly we might not need FF R or similar but after listening to Marc Nelsons favve rever shootout I really loved the vibe of the ones he uses on pro session recordings. Link here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H5EhAAJxI2A

Thanks as Always for your thoughts on this and if you have other alternatives please let me know.

I have a few pedals here aswell like Strymon Big Sky, Strymon Night Sky and Blackhole Eventide and a few usual guitar pedals for our hardware synths to make them ”pop” better in the sessions but as for now I need a software verb to use with one of the Macbook Pro 2019 with Live10 Suite installed and PTUltimate when at the house on the sofa or in bed hehe

If you’ve got a Bricasti, why not go with Seventh Heaven? Keep your workflow somewhat similar.

Pro-R is my go-to non-IR reverb. I have a couple of others from Eventide, Avid, etc. It's not the easiest of reverbs to work with as it's not all that intuitive but once you get the feel for how things work especially the eq-like controls for changing the reverb lengths for various parts of the spectra (decay rate EQ) you should be home free.

It's deep like any other Fabfilter plugin. I suggest downloading the manual https://www.fabfilter.com/help/ffpror-manual.pdf

Their demo is 30 day fully functional. It can be as pristine as you want or totally weirded-out which is typical of other Fabfilter plugins.

Thanks guys. Yeah the seventh heaven is also on the radar, just felt I wanted to try something new as we used M7 for awhile and the TC6000 does a lot too but as I want to get another type of sound into all this I just felt the FF would be a different test. But agree Seventh Heaven is ”like” our Bricasti

Didn’t know FF had a 30 day demo so that would tell us what to do I hope. And you guys input as I value that very Highly!

If I could only have 1 reverb, the Slate bundle(which actually has 2) covers a lot of ground and could cover anything that doesn't need an convolution. Definitely worth a serious look

I wouldn't go anywheres near Slate anything; does the phrase 'Slate soon' ring a bell?

Hahaha Yeah we have the EB from Slate Late but can’t get excited about his reverbs other than the Slate Plate which is OK.

They are CPU hungry thought and we dont use much from that bundle. Most of the plugin emulations from all the devs we have in hardware which is far better and sounds way more musical than plugins.

Try Exponential Audio Reverbs. They are fantastic, easy to setup and aren't CPU hungry.

I have them and theyr'e okay but they don't have the depth of sound Pro R does. I love the decay rate eq and EA's 'verbs don't have anything like that. There's a low end that seems to be missing in Nimbus and R4 that Pro R can have in spades if you need it.
