It's not because they are sweetening the deal to make people jump into the subscriptions, it's how they doubled the price of the deals that people with perpetuals like me had been paying for years for the support subscription. They simply decided to increase the price of a deal that was already closed without giving us the opportunity to opt out whatever they decided to add or simply without adding anything at all. Not even telephone companies do this.

Isn't business as usual to raise prices as years go by? Won't you?

Again I'm not arguing with you but they have said they want customers to move to subs so you need to consider that. And take a guess if that's going to be only business model some years later. I have no idea.

The new deal for subscription customers is something that they give away to steer customers to subs. Can you blame them? If there weren't any perks for subs then why would someone choose sub if permanent license and annual update plan is better for them?

I'm not choosing colors here, I understand both ways of thinking. Just that if both are equal, which would you choose? And if it is in Avid's interests to get people on the subscription model, wouldn't they have to make it look more appealing than the status quo?

That of course was a rhetorical question
I get what you are saying. They are free to do whatever they want. They can stop supporting my license if they wish. It won’t be consequence free however, especially considering how many other good DAWs there are. If they really want people to get on their subscription model, perhaps they should try a pricing model like the rest of the industry and sell more seats as opposed to attempting to squeeze every last dollar out of their existing user base?

Wait a minute. I'm a perpetual Pro Tools subscriber. Why don't I get free HEAT and the Complete Plugin Bundle just like a non-perpetual subscriber? How is this fair?

Would be like Falcon, tied to the subscription which would be only appealing to some....so, probably soon

Didn't they just publish a crossgrade pricing from perpetual to subscription? If subscription looks more appealing to you, just take it.
