Default Going from PT 9 le to HDX on my IMAC?

So I have PT 9 le with a bunch of plugs on my Imac. It's a quad 3.4 with 16 gig ram from 2012. In order to keep my plugs etc... will I need to clone the drive or uninstall them? I'm going from PT 7.4 HD on an old 2.3 dual tower to this after 13 years...hahaha..I know. SO im using my second computer.. the Imac. Whats the best approach? I know I need to install EL CAP...I'm running 10.6.8 currently on the Imac. Anyone? Would appreciate it.
Tim

Wow, big leap! Realise that ALL your plugins need to be updated to 64 bit AAX and not all (probably) will be available as DSP on HDX.

As for the iMac, max out the ram to fully take advantage of disk cache. I'm into my second week of running 12.6 on a newish 5k iMac (i5 3.2ghz 32gb) on Sierra and have had no real issues so far, actually, much better than I'd hoped for I will add that this machine performs only basic audio recording , mixing and editing - no VI's, no huge input track counts etc just basic bread & butter stuff, I haven't tried it on my other system which is anMac Pro which does the heavy lifting - big track counts and lots of VI's - I've found Yosemite and Quartz Bebug with Beam Sync disabled to be the most reliable.

Good Luck.

Oh, BTW, clean install from the sound up on a new drive/partition is ALWAYS the best idea, it can be a PITA but is the surest way to a stable system.

Especially from that far back. Just take the current system drive and set it aside. Start over with everything.

How will you connect the HDx cards? Are you getting a chassis?

Just curious if you've thought that part through yet. If you need to put money into the Imac and a chassis you could maybe get and older 6-8 core tower.

Be aware that the card plus chassis is loud. I had to build a isolation box for it and put that in a closet 9 feet away.
