Number of Scribble strip characters in Eucon support?
How many characters will display on the Euphonix channel scribble strip for each channel with PT9?
Does Eucon support include multiple units? If so, how many channels/units is the maximum? Thanks |

Re: Number of Scribble strip characters in Eucon support?
The LCD doesn't have a character limit per se, since it depends on the size of the characters used. The display is pretty big, though - I don't have the specs right in front of me, but it displays the entire Euphonix logo and name when powered up and not in tiny, single line characters either.
Eucon supports up to 4 units maximum - mix and match. |

Re: Number of Scribble strip characters in Eucon support?
Thank you for the incredibly fast reply.
It certainly seems like Avid has had people (Rail must be working for you) manning the duc for the PT9 roll out. Back to the question: In the brochure it looks like 7 or 8 characters. Is this how many PT9 will "publish" to the mc mix? The main shortcoming in the original HUI was 4 characters. Challenging on Digital performer where each channel didn't have to include the individual playlist (take in DP jargon) in the channel name, but close to unusable with big sessions in PT. ProControl does 8 which is much better, though including playlist names can make even 8 unreadable sometimes (more a shortcoming of the software protocols than the controller hardware). Unfortunately it looks like the Eucon LCD is at a less immediately apprehended location for identifying channels than either of the other 2 mentioned surfaces, and in smaller harder to read green on black characters. It would still be nice to know PT9 will send 7 or 8 characters per channel to justify a visit to the store to see how much harder to read the Mix controller channel labels will be compared to ProControl or HUI. |

Also, the display is more of a yellow than green, at least to my eyes. It's pretty bright, too. I've never had a problem reading it and I think it looks way better than either HUI or ProControl. |

Also, Rail doesn't work for us. He's here out of generosity. The man deserves massive credit for his contribution here.

Here's a quick iPhone photo I took of it working with Pro Tools - the Rhythm 8 tracks spans the entire width of the MC Mix display.

Rail is a Prince and The Prince of the DUC!
Not a joke, but sincere props. Cheers,
