PTools wont open files or create new ones

New to Pro Tools. It worked for great for a week, now I get error messages when trying to create or open files. -Could not complete your request because Access violation occurred, unable to read location 0x0000000000000000. and..-Could not create a new document because PXF plugin is not installed.
