Default Help me figure out to install and work my digitech

I own a Protools 5.1.1. software, with a Digitech digidesign box, and at first I had a problem with the CD key (bought it used) so I called digitech, got my key, and installed it. HOWEVER, before this, I had installed the free version, which didn't work for me.

I install the 5.1.1, enter my key, and follow all the guidelines in order to record. I get nothing.

Well, I reformatted recently, and installed my Protools.

I have both the Protools / digidesign soundcard, and my generic Soundblaster soundcard.

Is there any further things I must do to my system / settings to record? Or do I just install the software, hook the box up, plug mic in, and go? Any further suggestions and / or help would be much appreciated.

First you need to uninstall PTFREE, as PTLE and FREE try to use the same files, so you can get problems.

PTfree was never designed to work with digidesign hardware, so that's ok

You can remove the soundblaster completely if you loke, ptle doesnt need it. (maybe except the midi-ports...)

You must be running win98 or winME now, but there's also a version of ptle available for winXP, wich will run more stable and give you 8 extra tracks. There's a good change you can upgrade ptle for free (except for a 50 mb download...)

Thanks, but I was hoping for system property changes.. when I go into protools and enable a track to be recorded and press the red record button, it doesn't record for me.. Yes I'm on windows 98.

maybe wayyyyyyyyy to basic, but after you press the recordbutton, you have to press the play-button to start recording.

Also, to record to a track you need to arm it first.

You arm a track by clicking on the little "rec" or "r" button on the channelstrip in the mix-window just above the fader, so the fader turns red.

Have you installed the demo-session? If so, does that play back?

Also, when you try to record something, or play something back, do you see the meters responding?

Also, How do you listen to what you do? (monitors&amp, powered monitors, headphones)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Oh, yeah, I armed the track.

Before, I had opened up the demo track, and it played it, I was listening to it through the Headphone port on the box, however it was choppy.. not good quality.

When I try to record something I don't see the meters responding, and I don't see a wave form on the map when I'm finished testing.
