I really do appreciate the time spent, this time Im in it for the long haul, I will read said docs and I completely understand the frustrations from both sides. This is not the 1st music software I've used, just the most complicated. I agree with what your saying about the skimming thru and using it as a future reference so I'm pretty sure that I'll become familiar with the literature in your suggestion. I also understand that yelling and complaining will get me know where but kicked off the forums, done that once or twice before lol. Looks to me like 10 is a completely new version comapred to 8 LE so everything I know may be subject to that, hopefully I can get this working today.

I've googled and searched and read, where the heck is the uninstall button?
Oh jeez, that can do it. There can only be one version of Pro Tools installed at a time (unless you install separate versions of a dual/multi-boot system, each version on its own boot OS). you may have a screwed up system depending on what you have done. I would wipe the system drive and reinstall Windows 7 SP1, then Pro Tools 10.3.3. and make sure it works and install any 3rd party plugins and any other apps you need (try to install as little other crap as possible). Check it works and then do a full backup.

If the standard uninstaller in the Control panel are not showing up then your system is sick, I thought there was stand alone utilities as well on Windows, but maybe I'm wrong on that.

And look, if Pro Tools 8 LE failed to work properly you quite likely were doing something wrong or had a misconfigured/under spec system (Pro Tools is more demanding than many other audio programs).

Go grab a copy of SiSoft Sandra and post a Sandra report here before you do much else and we'll point out if you system is underspec/has known issues.

See instructions in the "Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting!" link on this page. And search other posts on DUC for Sandra reports to see what they should look like (we want those full reports not a tiny summary).

I see you have an AMD processor I think I've read on here that they are not very compatible with PT

The problem with this systems is the single disk drive, you need a separate dedicated drive for Pro Tools audio/session files.

And that drive needs to meet all the pro Tools audio drive specs, including begin 7200 rpm (or SSD).

In this case not only do you have a single drive, but it is one of the most crappy worst drives possible for Pro Tools, or many other application. These WDC Caviar Green drives are just toxic for Pro Tools. They are not 7200 rm and their power saving tricks just cause all sorts of problems for high-performance IO apps. HP includes them because they are cheap (and nasty). No OEM should be putting these crap drives in systems, they are archive drives at best. HP should be ashamed of themselves. you are absolutely wasting your time with pro Tools of any version running on a single Caviar Green drive.

I would look to install a modern SSD drive, the Samsung 840 pro SSD being the best out there currently IMNSHO. I would install two of those. An SSD/System drive will boot so much faster etc. that the clunker you have. These SSD drives are so fast you may get away with one drive and using audio session files on the system/boot drive with them for not so demanding session.

Not bad, you started with a plugin error on start up and we've got you to needing one or two new disk drives and a full OS reinstall....

While I would always pick a system with an Intel i7 if buying one, there are many folks here running on a Phenom II processor. The real problems with AMD processors were older versions.

This is not not likely an issue--certainly not compared to the toxic WDC Caviar Green drive.

Well if its something I can go grab right now and build with, givin its not too expensive I can go pick it up. For now I dont plan to mix in PT just create in as a HOST. I can always stem out and blah blah, I just want to create with it, Can I opperate on one ssd? Shoot me some specs and I'm out the door. Been considering a cpu upgrade for a while, (my laptop is better than my desktop) just being patient for now.

Is your inteface Firewire based?

If so the other issue in the Sandra report is the motherboard here uses a Via Firewire chipset, you are really supposed to gave a TI chipset. I suspect some folks have the Via running OK with Pro Tools, but they really are not ideal.

With all these issues no wonder you had problems with Pro Tools 8.

I can't work out whether you are asking for specs for a SSD drive (I already gave it -- get a Samsung 840 Pro, the "Pro" part is important, they come in several sizes) or specs for a whole new system. If the later you should start by working this stuff out for yourself, and all that info is available online, start here http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ility/en419171.

You don't need to purchase a new system just because of the Firewire, you can purchase a low cost TI chipset based Firewire adapter PCIe cards and use this.
