Re: Buying a Monitor (Screen)
So I got the 43" LG from Costco and it was huge. I played around with PBP and i have to tell you Pro Tools looked ****ing awesome. The 4k issues were non existent for me. But I had other issues and this may be more the scaling stuff folks were talking about that perhaps is the root. I think the refresh rate on this one wasnt enough because if I scroll text it blurred bad. Now I work from home and I spend a lot of time researching fixes etc so this is an issue for me. ALso the angles were not great and I know get what others say about the wqhd being the sweet spot because this unit doesnt have height adjustment which I knew but I saw why people didnt care for that. Also it was pretty hard on my eyes. So that said I am going to try some lower resolution curved monitors and other 4k ones. The 4k for protools was so freking clear that I loved it. The problem was the day to day stuff. So I am back to the dual dell 25 2560x1440 but they sure dont look as good as they used to. I plan to order both the samsung and LG offerings from costco next. I love the PBP features like no tomorrow. Hope that offers something useful.

Re: Buying a Monitor (Screen)
Does your setup allow for 4K or 5K monitors?

Re: Buying a Monitor (Screen)
I’m not sure if my set up allows 4K or 5K as it’s an old Harpertown Mac

Yes and I ran it in that. I have a year old Mac Pro. It supports both 4k and 5k.

Re: Buying a Monitor (Screen)
Popped into my local TV shop today to get a feel of screen sizes and prices. I’m not sure weather to go 43inch or 49inch it was hard to get an idea of what it would feel like with out sitting at the desk. Can you get a screen that is too big???

Re: Buying a Monitor (Screen)
Yes. I had a friend that was into "bigger is better" and got carried away. Screen was too big and he had to keep craning his neck around to look at sections of the screen. After a month he returned it and went smaller (40")
It depends how far the screen is positioned away from you -- further away you can go larger; closer not so much.

Re: Buying a Monitor (Screen)
I felt much the same. I loved the width but the height was a bit much. The 34\38" curved seem to get the balance better. Problem is that if I go to a pair of curved it would sit beautifully on my desk but no room on that shelf then for the monitors and I dont want to go back to stands. (Omnidesk). I wish they had a 49" curved that had a better resolution with PBP because that samsung looks interesting. The 38 is very pricey for what it is though people seem to like em. But in this case I think I would not get enough benefit and lose screen over the dual 27 going for that. I may try a pair of 32" as they are smaller and may fit but I absolutely love the idea of the curved monitors.
