Re: Any ideas?
Thanks. I only have 640mb of ram, and I have checked all the usual digi system setups etc. I actually had a crash since my original post with a DAE error "unable to communicate with hardware" etc, but it allowed me to save and restart. It was just looping a section of audio rather than freezing totally. In my excitement that it wasn't a crash of the reset button variety, I forgot to make a note of the error number. Somethings wierd though.

Any ideas?
Hi everyone
I'm running recently upgraded HD on a G4 867 with loads of ram. I've noticed since upgrading to HD (although I can be absolutely sure that it is only since then) that I'm getting very slow graphical response on the screen. eg.s sometimes I select a group of objects and at first nothing happens, then they select in order one by one. If I grab the screen slider bar and move left and right, sometimes it responds, sometimes not. If I am using the separation grabber, and I double click on a region to name it, sometimes it just wont work how ever hard I try. I have to select another tool. The redraws etc are a bit slow. The whole thing just feels like its not happy. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks Jack |

Re: Any ideas?
I've heard that the G4s don't like to see more than 1 gig of ram. Maybe you have too much?

Re: Any ideas?
I'd suggest experimenting with different buffer settings and see how much dedicated RAM is allocated to PT and increase if necessary.
Check your memory control panel and reduce the disk cache to 512k and be sure that virutal memory is disabled.
