Default Connecting Yamaha Tyros 5 not possible

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to use my Yamaha Tyros 5 as a Midi-Controller in Pro Tools 12.
I installed the latest Midi-Driver by Yamaha and connected the Keyboard via USB directly to my PC Win 10 64-Bit.

As I'm opening the "Peripherals"-Menu and switch to Midi-Controller, I see my Keyboard with the Name from the Midi-Driver.

When I choose HUI and in both other options my Keyboard, after 10 sec Pro Tools says "Cannot communicate with HUI [...]".

Am I doing something wrong or isn't it possible to use Tyros 5 as a Midi-Controller?

"Midi"-controller and "HUI " is not the same.
is the Tyros capable of HUI? i found nothing with google....
if not, try to use MMC if you need at least transport functionality
and the Tyros is capable of that.
if you only want to use it as simple Midi- keyboard use just a
midi - in port.

Hi peterle and thanks for your reply!
This worked pretty well, but I have a big latency. Is that normal or can I optimize that?

Thanks!

start with the proper setup. This happens under the following menu:
Setup>Midi>Midi Studio. Create a new instrument and name it as you like(maybe "Yamaha"). The next 2 options are for brand and model, but these do not NEED to be set(so don't worry if your particular keyboard is not listed). The input port is the CRUCIAL setting and needs to be correct, or Pro Tools will not know where to "look for" incoming midi. Clicking should open a list(which may only be a single choice) and you should look for something like "Yamaha USB[Emulated]"(really, anything that looks like it refers to your keyboard). If you want to use the Tyros sounds, then you also need to set the midi OUTPUT to match the Tyros

I did this, made an Instrument Track and loaded my VST. It doesn't move at all.. In Ableton Live 9 it's absolutely no problem to connect, so did I forget something?
