Default Re: TV or PC monitor??

40" Samsung 4K TV here that I got from Wally World for like $450. Absolutely amazing, had a HackinMac hooked to it for a minute running Sierra and it was the bomb. Windows 10 takes some fiddlin' with the scaling to get it acceptable though.

Default Re: TV or PC monitor??

In my experience, i was coming from a pair of vintage 17 inch Apple Cinema displays,
which over time I had to squint to see the delta values
when I raised the automation lanes.

So in making the move to HDX, new computer,
and all the soup and nuts,
started shopping with the same question in mind; monitor or TV ?

At the Avid display in January I thought their big TVs looks pretty good,
so using the Fry’s electronics 30 day rental policy,
I bought a 43 inch LG TV which runs natively at 1080P.

First problem I noticed, is the loss of screen real estate at that resolution,
compared to our Cinema displays and my 27 inch iMac at home.
The next obvious thing, to me at least, was the jagged picture quality.
So went back and forth from Fry’s trying several different combinations,
and ended up with two 32 inch Asus monitors running at 2K,
with a pair of Dell 20 inches at 1080P, one to run meters
and the other for the floating windows.
On the two main screens that 2K resolution seemed an ideal sweet spot
for getting maximum good real estate coverage versus resolution.
Switching up to 4K the picture is very clear
but from a few feet away it's just too zoomed out to be useful.

Hope this can help,
e
for the record
