Default 'Best' portable f/wire+USB HD?

As the thread subject implies... :)

I'm running PT 9 on my MBP, and am about to take on a lot of spoken word projects from some studios. I'd like to have both Firewire *and* USB to be compatible with different studios' Macs. Portable is good, so I'm after a 2.5" drive. I'll be using it to transfer large projects, as well as extra storage for my 500GB MBP.

Advice please! I'm currently looking at the Western Digital My Passport Studio, but Lacies look good too.

I would look at OWC. My "best buy" choice for quality, balanced with price. Not sure why USB is important as its not supported for Pro Tools on any Mac(but it will certainly work for moving files).

I would stay away from the WD My Passport Studio. I believe most or all of those drives are only 5400 rpm (WD Scorpio Blue). And since WD don't seem to think consumers deserve to be told clearly basic info like drive RPM I would avoid all their products...

Glyph pick the one that fits. OWC has less configurations but if one fits they great a great company

LaCie Rugged drives with the orange surround are great. They have the correct Oxford chipset, they have a 3 year warranty and have proved reliable from my own and my clients experience.

And make sure to buy the 7200 rpm versions of these drives.

Nowadays as the price difference isn't significant I would agree however I and my clients have made plenty of radio docs etc on 5400rpm drives.
