Default RIP Charlie Daniels

Hate to be the bearer of more bad news but multi-instrumentalist Charlie Daniels has passed away at the age of 83. He died of a hemorrhagic stroke.

Saw him at Six Flags Great Adventure Park in NJ back in the 80's. Last show on a Friday night and they did the standard length show of about 45 minutes or so. Slight pause and then the encore which was well north of 2 hours! Not a soul left the arena. Played violin, guitar and other instruments.

You've never heard of Charlie Daniels? You're kidding right? How about the tune 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'?

This is but one of his many tunes.

Not just you. I’d never heard of him either. That’s not really the type of music I was exposed to or sought out.

I could probably list hundreds of artists that mean something to me that no one on here would have heard of.

But... don’t tell me you don’t know Ennio Morricone. No thread for him?

I saw Charlie Daniels in the 80's at Gilley's Club in Pasedena, TX (where the Urban Cowboy movie was filmed). Still remember the show.

Hahahaha

Thats a choice though. I dont listen to Abba either as that was before I was born.

I know good ”merican” music but for country i have to say i know nothing about that style before 2010

BUT I know OF many big country artists even though they are never played here.
