Default Beat Detective Bug? 7.4.1

Hi Guys,

I am currently doing some editing on a session and needed to use beat detective to match the performance from an electric piano to a track of Wurlizer.

I have separated the notes already in BD and then have extracted a groove from the Wurlizer track, taking great care that it was detected properly, then saving it to the groove clipboard. Then I have moved my selection up to the Electric Piano track and run region conform selecting the groove clipboard as the source.

The results are not even a close match, infact some of the notes move further out of time than they were to start with.

Just to clarify: the two performances, whilst on separate instruments, are the same monophonic rhythmical pattern of notes and they were fairly well matched to start with. It just needed a little tighten up.

Thinking I was missing something, I rang Digi who couldn't explain why this was happening and confirmed I have been doing everything correctly. They asked me to send a copy of the session to them for analysis, but unfortunately due to copyright reasons I am unable to do so and am too busy to mock up another session for them.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with beat detective since HD 7.4 - I recall it working fine when I was doing something similar about 6 months ago in 7.2.

One more thing: if I am conforming/quantizing to the grid then it seems to be fine, it is only the grooves which cause it to play up.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Tom.

Same here. I've been dealing with this for a year and a half and no solution from Avid...
