Default Conditions for "Same As Source" Video Export

Hi All,

Absolutely thrilled to have QT integration back in Pro Tools. Even though it's in beta it's been super solid for me and I've had a lot of video work over the past few weeks.

One feature I haven't had luck with is the "Same As Source" bounce that used to be in PT. AFAIK, if you didn't change any aspect of the video or it's timeline, you could "instantly" output a video file. It seemed like it would just link your audio bounce with the video and save it in as much time as the audio bounce took.

Now, I can never enable that option. It's always grayed-out no matter what options/selection I bounce. Is this just a condition of the beta? Everytime I export a video it bounces the audio and then starts the (somewhat time-consuming) process of re-transcoding (?) the video.

Just wondering if anyone else has gotten the "instant" video output to work, or if I'm asking for too much and should just shut up and be happy that video works again

Thanks for any insight in advance!

That part of the Bounce to QuickTime functionality hasn't yet been brought back on Catalina. According to something I read or watched, Avid say that the fact that it is there and greyed out signals their intent to bring back that functionality.

If you are on PT 2020.11 on Mojave, the previous menu option for Bounce to QuickTime (rather than selecting QuickTime as the Format option in the Bounce Mix window) is still there and Same As Source still works as expected.

Since you are on Catalina, I would suggest bouncing out audio only to the length of the video then using Shutter Encoder or FFWorks to Replace Audio, until Avid brings Same As Source back to Catalina.

It's on page 14 of the "What's New in Pro Tools 2020.11" pdf file

It says "Same as Source: This option is grayed out and unavailable with this Public Beta release".
