Arturia Spark reduces other Track Volumes when not muted.
I am running Pro Tools 10 on Mac OSX 10.7.5.
I have Arturia Spark as a Plug In on an Instrument Track. I noticed that when I mute the Instrument Track containing spark, my other Pro Tools tracks are at normal volume. (I am just using Pro Tools virtual instruments on all of the other tracks). However, as soon as I unmute the Spark track, all of the other track's volume is reduced. Then I mute the Spark and track and the volume comes up again. Then I noticed that when I pull the fader down on the spark instrument track, the volume of all the Pro Tools tracks rises. When I push the instrument track up, all of the tracks decrease in volume. My mind is blown. Is this a Pro Tools Issue or Spark? |

Re: Arturia Spark reduces other Track Volumes when not muted.
My guess is that you have a limiter on the master and your Arturia is on a higher level than the other tracks. When you hit the limiter with Spark gain reduction happens to itself and (of course) to all other tracks also, but as already said, because of the high level of Spark, on tracks with less level you will hear the gain reduction better.
Check your levels!

Re: Arturia Spark reduces other Track Volumes when not muted.
This was the solution, just taking the limiter off of the master. Should I try to bring all the other levels up to match Arturia? Or bring Arturia down to match all of the other levels?

I'd lower Arturia's volume...

Re: Arturia Spark reduces other Track Volumes when not muted.
Okay the problem was solved in Pro Tools...now the same thing is happening within Arturia. I made a group of Toms, then wanted to add a Bass Drum. When solo the bass drum in the sequencer, it sounds great. But I un solo it, and now I can barely hear it. And no matter how I try to compress it, it is just not the same.
I feel like when people make beats, one drum sound effecting another drum sounds volume isn't usually a problem. The individual drum sounds stay the same, and a bass drum is not dramatically turned down when other sound are playing. Am I right? |
