Default Norton Ghost

I finally have PT running but I hear a lot of people say it is wise to get Norton Ghost. Any down side to this? I don't want to mess with where I am right now...

Yes it's wise to image your system drive.
Personally I prefer True Image over Ghost.

I second True Image over Norton Ghost.

I recently tested them both out. Ghost was quite a pain and went straight to the garbage bin. And getting the install complete over the phone was a huge negative. Took about half an hour of punching in numbers. It's not like it use to be.

I'll be a third. True Image rocks, and I've been using it ever since DUC user bigbubbaj turned me on to it.

I can't speak to True Image, but I haven't been able to get Ghost 10 to work at all. I have had limited success with the accompanying Ghost 2003, but the feature set is limited, to say the least.

If possible, run Ghost 2003 from a floppy. Don't trust running it from Windows. Plus be sure to put Norton's Reboot app on the floppy. Get it from Symantec's website. I've only had to use it once, when running Ghost from Windows. In 2 years running Ghost 2003 from a floppy, no issues. Now I've gone and done it

Cheers,

To get it authorized and completely installed without having the PT computer online I did it over the phone. Major pain.

Then after that I had to install the Microsoft .NET Framework which is not even needed by True Image. Overall, Ghost 10 was nothing but a hassle.

Ghost is not like it use to be. I got it out of the computer faster than I installed it.

True Image on the other hand is a big two thumbs up for me and very hassle free. An excellent backup app and I have tried out many over the years.
