Default Protools HD 10 on TDM hardware versus Native or "Genuine" TDM

[ Hi folks

This is my very first post here, so please don't be to hard on me for asking such a simple question. I really need to spread some light on this subject: ]

I'm wondering since when ProTools 10 is compatible with genuine TDM Core/Accell cards.

I have noticed that the new 10.3.3 installer is now asking if the hardware is HDX or HD/TDM based. Is this is a new compatibility add-on ?

Since the first release of version 10 I always taught that ProTools wasn't compatible anymore with "genuine" HD TDM hardware. I think I was wrong.

So, now if someone could explain what are the main differences between running PT HD 10 on a Native, an HDX and a "Genuine" TDM system, i think this post would be very informative for most people.

Thank you !

HD10 is compatible with all HD systems - HD TDM, HDX, and HD Native.

In addition, the HD10 software can be used with any Core Audio or ASIO interface, either Avid or 3rd party, or the computer's built in I/O.

Yes. But whenever PT11 is out then old TDM/RTAS is not supported, so you're kind of right in saying TDM hardware has seen the end of life, albeit still being supported by PT10.

This is so that HD/TDM users get an install that works with their cards.

It doesn't say how many cards you need installed to get max I/O with HD TDM, but it does for HDX systems. I would think 160 is max.

Each HD card can handle 32 I/O, so to get 160 I/O you would need HD5 and ten interfaces.
