Default What\'s the deal with 10.4.7?

So the 10.4.7 update from Apple is out as well as a Quicktime and iTunes update.

What is the word on how these work with LE 7.1?

Just like at Christmas when you have to wait till the Eve, or the next morning to open up your presents, wait for the official report from Digi (which will be posted top of this forum) for the OK. If you don't and upload and experience problems, please don't come back whining about it endlessly. Follow this simple rule and your system will be safe. If you can't wait, take the risk and possibly pay the consequences.

Why? I upgraded to Pro last week and everything has been working perfectly, in fact I was out with my G5 & 002 recording a Choirboy in Lichfield Cathedral Chapel yesterday evening and everything is running fine and dandy!

Everything audio-related runs much better without QT 7.1.1 and begins to crawl after the update. You'll notice what I mean if you really stress the system, but I guess it's alright if you keep the CPU load down enough. But if you want to stress it, then do not upgrade Quicktime.

Does that apply to QT 7.1.2 as well?

Hey Hey!

Yeh... I understand that I should wait before updating my OS, but I've never heard that I had to also watch the Quicktime version...

Is that really the case? If so, why do we always see a notice when the OS is qualified but not when a Quicktime version is qualified? And what else do we need to be wary of?

QT 7.1.1 is the first time that I've noticed Quicktime breaks something, so not to worry too much. It's just that Digidesign has been slow to react to this issue because they might have something to announce soon and new software versions are tested against most current operating system versions anyway.

It's just so sickening to wait.

Hmmmm... over at the Quicktime forum most folks are complaining about Java or Video issues with the latest QT releases. I can't tell yet if I'm affected, as all my PT sessions I've recently played with are still playing fine.

@JFreak, did you revert from QT 7.1.1 to an earlier version, and if so - how? The problem is that Apple has not released an approved QT 7.1x uninstaller yet.
