Sorry...just need help tweaking my "new" system

Hi. Sorry for the book...I'm afraid to leave details out.

I bought someone's Mac G4 ProTools LE system (think it's the "Quicksilver") along w/ a Digi001. According to online info, it's the "Digital Audio" G4. Has the max ram of 1.5 GB.

PLEASE tell me how to optimize this for recording only!

For instance, what do I do in the EXTENSIONS MANAGER area? Will never use airport, AIM, printing, etc. I wish to set-up the resources 100% for recording alone. I tried using the "base" selection, but of-course none of the Digidesign extensions are selected in that case, so I'm stuck using the previous owners config (but he had a lot of things I don't think I need). I wish to make a "Pro Tools LE" configuration that disables all the unnecessary processes/mem usage.

Should "Low Latency Monitoring" be on? I keep the meters on & notice system & CPU are usually low, but PCI meter is always to the 1/2way mark. I can't even tell which processor I have...

The software is all on a 60G internal drive. I record to a 30G internal drive & store projects on a 500G OWC Mercury Elite Pro connected via Firewire.

Some background if you care:
I have made a few recordings that sound ok, but I lock-up if I push the system. I,e. I have learned to record with my J-Station (it's like a POD) because SansAmp eats-up lots of CPU. I suppose I can learn to record with an effect then print that track & release the plug-in (like I used to do on my Roland VS-1880). Also learned NOT to turn-on plug-ins while in playback. I have about 70 plug-ins from a share-group (before all this stuff was locked down I guess) but I DON'T have any software (disks)! Any help is appreciated!! Again, sorry for the book...
