Resolve to Pro-Tools error
I got an AAF from Resolve and Pro-Tools says: "Can not open file because an unexpected error happened when trying to find the media file location". I talked to the video editor and he tells me there are virtually no parameters that he can change in Resolve. I asked him to 'include' media but he says these options do not exists in the new Resolve. He says all he can do is click on the send to Pro-Tools default settings in Resolve. Does any one now how to fix this so I can get the transfer?
Thank you |

Re: Resolve to Pro-Tools error
the snarky response to your sincere request is 'download the DaVince Resolve Alpha software and use Fairlight!'
good luck. I have no idea.

Re: Resolve to Pro-Tools error
If by "new Resolve" he means version 14, there are options in both the "Avid AAF" and "Pro Tools" tabs to select Export Audio and Export Video with selectable handle lengths.
However, version 14 of Resolve is still a public beta version (14.03b) and it is unwise to use it on a serious project. He should be using version 12.5. This may explain the problem.

Re: Resolve to Pro-Tools error
I would ask the Editor to send me a copy of his original media folder. Ask the Editor to tell me which version of Resolve they are working on and a copy of his Resolve Project.
Then download and install the same version of Resolve (free) on my computer. Open the Project and make sure all the media links. (Resolve is not particularly intuitive but it does have a great selection of tools to make the media reestablish its own links to the media on my drive) Then go straight to the Deliver Page and use the Export to Pro Tools option. Without having tried this yet I would rate this workflow as having a 50 /50% chance of solving the issue. FWIW Resolve 14 Beta 3 happily co exists with PT's 12.7.1HD on a Windows 10 computer here. Disclaimer: I have not tried a Resolve Edit as my source for a Pro Tools session yet. Nor have I looked at the Export options from Resolve 14 to Pro Tools. Good Luck! Andrew |
