Default Omni channel/meter order confusion

I'm new to the Omni and trying to use my it with both Pro Tools and Logic.

In Pro Tools, Outs 1&2 show up on Omni meters 1&3 for some reason, but output on 1&2 of the analog snake.

Using Logic, Outs 1&2 show up on Omni meters 1&2 but output on analog 1&3. Both daws are setup to ITU channel order (L, R, C, LFE, LS, RS)

First your provided info is very limited. You might want to at least list your computer type, OS version, and PT version.

That said: it sounds like talking about 5.1 surround
I would think you would want to post in the Post.. Surround...Video forum, as I am guessing it is a PT routing and surround format issue

Mac Pro 3.33 6 Core, OS 10.8.5, HD Omni, PT 11 HD, Logic 9, Focal CMS Monitors.

I do believe this is the appropriate section to post in as it applies to stereo as well as surround.

Well Ok then my system is stereo only no surround. In my PTHDN system .... Outputs 1 & 2 in the I/O show up on Omni meters 1 & 2.

I happend to vaguely remember reading either here ( in the Post/Surround forum ) or over on GS in the Post Production forum....... something about PT outputs surround channels in film order (L, C, R, Ls, Rs, LFE). not (L, R, C, LFE, LS, RS) which could be you problem or not. I cant help you as I only work in stereo

I'm guessing probably the people who actually work in 5.1 surround would be more likely have some answers for you, or suggestions on how to diagnose what is going on . Thus the suggestion of posting in a forum populated by people who work in surround. Just a thought good luck

Yes, I just confirmed that it does output 5.1 in film order. Stereo projects map L, R to outs 1 & 2.

Thank you.

I've had questions about this, but never had time to trouble shoot. Similarly my OMNI meters show stereo on 1 & 3, but actually output on DB25 1 & 2. Problem arrises when I try and use the headphone jack on the HDN TB box because you only hear one side (i.e. it's seeing what the METERS are reflecting). I have a 5.1 monitor path (Since I mix surround regularly) and map stereo output to that path. If I change to a STEREO monitor (in the I/O setup) then meters match outputs match headphone on TB box so that was my workaround. Sure would like to know what's going on though.

I agree. It's really odd that this hasn't been fixed in an update. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that was puzzled by this. If ITU channel order is selected in the setup, the outputs should reflect it.
