Yes, I'd like to know this too. Seems like previous versions of PT were able to remember window configurations so it's irritating that the current version can't.

It's not just the current version, this annoying window configuration issue has been going on for years. I can't even remember the last time PT did remember window positions properly. So it's not just with Sierra either.

Save your preferred configuration as a Window Configuration and you can recall it with a quick shortcut when you open the session. If you save it into your template it will always be there.

Yes as Scott’s mentioned above.
Window configs recall mosly works.
Some float-windows still do not behave.
((Config window, system usage do not hold. ))

Most do do behave now (in my config)

Working fine here with PT 12.8.1 on Sierra on a late 2013 trashcan. Mac has never given me any problem with this, unlike Windows. It has worked right for me for 23 years, since PT 3.1.

I wish I could pass on a tip to help. At the moment, I happen to be using a pair of ASUS displays. One is connected by HDMI, the other by thunderbolt with a DVI connector. My coworker has two Apple displays connected to a MacBook Pro, and he has no problems, either.

I have the same issue running three monitors, I always have to move the mix window to my second monitor. Saving a config and loading it takes as much time as moving it by hand so no real point there if if doesn’t remember the next time pro tools is launched. I have a gtx 980ti.

Configs can be recalled by the keystroke sequence .n* where n is any digit on the numpad. Once you get the hang of it, it takes about 1/10 of a second to recall. My co-worker and I have very different workflow styles, and share sessions, so I always create each tracking session with two window configs, one for me and one for him. When I'm done tracking, I hit .2* and save, and it comes up just right for him next time he opens it.

Windows Config doesn't work for me either - I can save the configuration, but using the Config just moves the Mix window back to the other screen. My Mix windows only stays on the second monitor if I don't have it maximized. Really annoying problem, but I just keep that window slightly less than maximized and move on...

Ah. I've never maximized my windows. I guess that's the "secret."
