Checking audio file allocation
Hi all,
Very quick question: Is there a quick way to tell if you have any audio files in your session that are not stored in your audio files folder? Apologies for my ignorance! |

Re: Checking audio file allocation
Open the Project Browser and sort by path. If you find any, use Copy&Relink from the contextual menu.

Re: Checking audio file allocation
A rough way:
Rename the audiofiles folder in the session folder and open the session. If there are files that aren´t missing you have files on the loose... ;-)

Re: Checking audio file allocation
I have a Filemaker runtime that helps with that - will copy files accross etc.
you can download a video here Please DOWNLOAD instead of opening the file - small server running at ridiculously low speeds... http://41.134.2.249:85//Filecatcher.mov username: Guest password: guest Or watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD3J7...ature=youtu.be - the runtime is free Mac only though. |

Re: Checking audio file allocation
Very valid question
Remember this is a cheap solution :) Important: It only operates from the text export to determine whether all the files are in the allocated folder. - It does not interogate the finder to see what is in the folders etc. Obviously if you select "Move Files" they will only exist in the chosen filepath, and next time you open Protools it will see them if they are in the prime audio files folder and link to them. If one just copies files, then they will live in two places. The reason I put this together was that I sometimes forgot to switch Sound Miner to put the files in the correct session. After archiving to LTO and having to retrieve it 6 months later, there would always be a freaking little door close sfx or something that would be archived on a different set because it was in completely the wrong session. My workflow - finish project - run this "Filecatcher" runtime app - open Protools to make sure it links to the files that were moved (Export another txt file and filecatch again to make sure) and archive - knowing that everything will be in theaudio files folder when or if I ever have to retrieve it.. You can try the runtime - it is in the same folder if you step back one after logging in.. http://41.134.2.249:85// |
