Broadcast Specs
Does anyone know what the real audio specs are for Comedy Central? The spec shet as printed reads: "No compression or additional processing is to be applied. Average dialogue levels of the program should be between -30DBFS and -20DBFS on the VTR meter. Occassional momentary peak excursions of -14DBFS will be tolerated. Audio is never to exceed -8DBFS."
Momentary peak excursions of -14dBFS (+6 peak ref to -20DBFS? Do they mean average levels?) The levels specified are as read "on the VTR meter" which is a peak meter. |

Re: Broadcast Specs
They talk about average dialogue levels on a peak reading device. So I'll assume +12peak level and forget about the other gobbledegook. And Pat don't yell at me, I'm old and still use a VU meter.

Re: Broadcast Specs
Hey Peter
Can you imagine yourself sending a show with -30dBFS average dialog levels??? I think youre right, just follow the peak warning. Oh.....I didnt mean to yell, I thought you were deaf in one ear, and couldnt hear out of the other
