Wanted to update that earlier today when the freezes and error messages were too much to bear, I restarted the computer. When I launched PT again, I got the following message. (screenshot attached)
When I unplugged, then replugged iLok, all went back to normal.

The USB ports on your computer - USB2 or USB3? It's a known thing that iLok's have problems with USB3 ports. The usual remedy is to use a USB2 hub between the computer & iLok.

Totally. Light was NOT on. I have my rig in the machine room so can’t see it unless I go check. It was on when PT originally launched but somehow lost connection.

@Dave,

Not sure if this will be helpful to you or not, but I have had relatively poor experience when using more than 1 consumer grade wireless router in a network (Cisco/Linksys). Looks like consumer grade wireless routers are essentially “software” routers. I was rebooting my network twice a week.

I have essentially installed a small business network in my house/studio. My network connections look like this: from the Charter cable modem to a hardware business class POE+ router (DHCP server) to a 16 port business class unmanaged switch, 12 cat5e runs throughout the building. 5 wires go to business class wireless hotspots, computers in the studio go to a 5 port switch. Haven’t had to reboot this network in over a year. Note that I have 1 box (router) assigning IP addresses. Cisco small business Tech Support were the ones who told me to dump the consumer grade wireless (software) routers. Wasn’t cheap but eliminated my network issues.

I only bring this up because it sounds like you have multiple wireless routers in your system that could be feeding back who knows what through your network. This may or may not be the root of your PT errors and why unplugging your network cable fixes it.

Or, on a simpler note, it might be worth checking to see if your cat5e cable to your studio is properly terminated in your RJ45 wall plate. There are two acceptable conventions, but you can’t mix them.

Hope this helps,
Greg

That’s the cheese grater. My slave computer in that rig is a trash can.

Clarify please - are you having the problems on the cheesegrater or the iTrashcan? If the latter then part of your problem may be what I wrote above with compatibility of USB3 ports and iLok.
