An old MC Control in a modern world
Hey folks. I’ve got a 2010-era Euphonix MC Control that has been sitting on a shelf for a while needing repairs. It was last working a couple of years ago, although “working” was maybe a bit of a stretch. At that point I was having all sorts of issues with it connecting to my Mac Pro trashcan that led to several support calls with Avid, which ended up with no solutions and me getting told that it wasn’t supported anymore. I abandoned it for the time being, and last time I tried to get it going it wouldn’t power on.
Now it’s a couple of years later and I’ve got some troubleshooting time on my hands, so I thought I might try again before sending it to the great hardware graveyard in the sky. But before I try to get the powering up issue resolved, I thought I’d check: are the old silver ones still compatible with current computers/Eucon/DAWs? I’m current on High Sierra, 2017.7, and Eucon, and am using both PT and Digital Performer. |

Re: An old MC Control in a modern world
Hey
Can't speak for DP but it will definitely work with the PT setup you have. Make sure you download and install the latest Eucon version and if the control wanna do a firmware update let it do that aswell. See to it that Eucon is checked under peripherals setting in PT and that you done all the steps setting up Eucon on your network

Hey, thanks for the reply, glad to hear it might not be a total lost cause! I’ll see about getting the thing repaired and back into action.

The unit is essentially the same as the black ones. Sure some components like the screen are a different make, but the software doesn't see them as any different. The end of support is hardware and telephone really, not software.

It would be great if you made a modern version of this with a responsive capacitive touch screen. The dock isn’t bad but the ipad is a little too far away and takes up too much vertical space, blocks the monitor..
