Default which preamp for $600(or less)?

Just read the great reviews on the focusrite penta. Im planning on getting a preamp soon also. Has anyone used a grace design model 101? Which do you recommend for $600 max?

grace 101 for sure. focusrite seem to have fallen into the same hole as a lot of other once great equipment manufacturers and started making crap.

I say go with dbx tube pre's. You can get a two channel for under $500.
Musicians Friend has a 376 that comes with a FREE AKG C2000! for $449...I do believe.

MATTM:
although I have not heard the grace, I have to disagree with your take on the penta...i tested the dbx, the presonus, and the penta and for the money...the penta was the best choice. I don't believe Focusrite has turned into crap...and the pre on the penta are the same as on the voicemaster.
Rems:
The dbx did not sound as good to me and the tube sound is specific and from what I understand lacks headroom. It does offer the digital outs which is cool.

My suggestion would be to go listen to all of them. You know pretty much which are the best in that price range so check em out...we are just giving very objective opinions. Burn some of your vocal and instrument tracks to disc and bring them to Guitar Center or whatever and test them out.

dbx
presonus
focusrite
