Hey, im working on a short film that requires a swazzle effect, and i was wondering if anyone has ever had to recreate this effect before or if any processors exist that could sound close. here is the effect:

A kazoo could be too constricting for some consonant sounds - the 'poor man's kazoo' was made by wrapping a comb in tissue paper and humming through it - that might be easier. Either way, the voice has to actually perform with the device in front of the mouth, it's not a post plug-in.

Chombo - do you just want the sound of a swazzle or do you want to treat voice so it sounds like Mr Punch?
ie Do you want a physical swazzle or RTAS swazzle?

If it the latter, I've got no suggestions but here's how to make a physical one:

the director has already recorded the Voice Over of punch and was looking to see if there were any plugins available to treat it. the only thing i could think of was somehow using Impulse Response, or speakerphone to get the sound somehow, but im not sure how to do that as you have to hum into a kazoo to make a sound.

See this is exactly the problem with Pro Tools. The limited availability of plug-ins. Get fx-pansion or give up Pro Tools. The available pool of VST plug-ins is INCREDIBLY vast. Infact, there are countless top-notch VST plug-ins that are absolutely free.
Get FX-Pansion so you can use VST plug-ins in Pro Tools. If you do this wyou will be able to use VST plug-ins and I guarantee you can find anything you ever need as a VST plug-in.
I HIGHLY suggest getting it. I bought it because without it I found Pro Tools to be a complete waste of money. All DAWs are pretty much equal so any DAW that doesn't support the largest selection of plug-ins in the world (VST) is complete garbage. Definitely get fx-pansion or switch to any other DAW (all the others use vst) and you'll find the plug-in you need.

*Raises eyebrow* So you're saying there's a VST plug-in that will imitate a kazoo?
